Circular bench

Messy and hard to follow group meetings inspired Max Smit and myself to create a circular — modular — bench. In order to be able to control the spatial configuration of gatherings, the system of modular benches can form a circle. Mimicking circular discussion formats throughout history, which has proven to be an effective way to enhance eye-to-eye discussions.

The design and the materialisation are simple and straight-forward, enabling the production to be relatively easy and cheap. The seating proportions are scaled in such a way that the bench invites the seated to relax and feel comfortable, and yet to position his or her self in an active posture.

Configurations

King Arthur's round table.
